Our Background
On the back of a Global Financial Crisis, a slow NZ economy, PSA and general uncertainty, the Te Puke Economic Development Group was established in 2012 to help deliver economic diversity and growth across the Te Puke District.
Te Puke has a rich history and tapestry. From as early as 1830, it was engaged in International trade, and has seen the development of thriving agricultural and horticultural industries.
Te Puke is recognised as the ‘Kiwifruit Capital of the World’. Sophisticated infrastructure supports Retail, Tourism, Industrial & Service activity.
From the Papamoa Hills to Otamarakau and with a population of 17,000 people, the district is a high achiever across business, the arts, sport and social development.
It’s contribution to New Zealand’s GDP is in excess of $2b. It is centrally located in New Zealand’s ‘Bay of Plenty’ and is a high potential area for continued economic growth and development.
Our Strategic Intent
Te Puke EDG is outcome driven to deliver economic growth and development across our district. Our work is aligned with our Vision and Values and includes the strategic alignment of our various economic sectors.
Strategic Alignment
Strategic Alignment means we endeavour to have our entire community understand, believe in and contribute to planned outcomes that deliver economic growth.
Everything we do must be aligned with our Vision and must be underpinned by our Values.
